Global Health Innovation Grant and Pitch Contest
The Center for Global Health is hosting a Global Health Innovation Grant and Pitch Contest as part of its annual Global Health Day symposium. The winning team will receive a $50,000 grant from the JHU Alliance for a Healthier World to provide early-stage funding for their innovative idea.
Teams should be multidisciplinary from across divisions of Johns Hopkins and include international collaborators who are ready to develop and test a solution or intervention to an important health equity challenge in collaboration with local partners and communities in low and middle-income countries.
The research should align with one or more of the priority areas of the JHU Alliance for a Healthier World. Teams will have one to two years to undertake their proposed activities, develop plans for sustainability, and build capacity. All teams must involve co-leadership from health-science and non-health science divisions, as well as an international collaborator. Preference will be given to teams who demonstrate a pathway to continue their projects past the initial investment.
How to apply:
The contest has two rounds. First, teams will submit an application describing their project.
Upon review, finalists will be invited to the second round and will be required to give a 7-minute presentation over Zoom at the virtual Global Health Day 2022 symposium. At least one international collaborator must co-deliver the pitch.
Each grant will be led by two JHU co-Principal Investigators and an international collaborator. The co-Principal Investigators (co-PIs) must be full-time JHU faculty or staff members who are eligible to serve as a PI for grants in their division or school and each team must have at least one co-PI from a non-health science school or entity and at least one from a health sciences school or entity (see table below).
Applications are due on April 17, 2022 at 11:59pm EDT. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 22, 2022 at 11:59pm EDT.
Finalists will be notified on April 25, 2022 if they have been invited to present their pitches at the Center for Global Health's annual Global Health Day virtual symposium on May 11, 2022.
