Event Summary
WHO WE ARE:
The "Decolonizing Global Health in the Era of COVID-19" conference is organized by medical students from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Global Health Leadership Track (GHLT) and University of Rwanda College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
MISSION STATEMENT:
This conference aims to discuss and develop action items around decolonizing global health through the lens of the COVID-19 pandemic. We seek to draw a diverse and broad audience of international individuals involved in healthcare to promote a collective and equitable vision of global health reform. Through critically interrogating past legacies and understanding the implications of COVID-19 on shaping the future of global health, we plan to empower attendees to recognize and dismantle systems of oppression in their own global health practice, in the hope of creating a more equitable, just, and effective field of global health.
