Urban Health Initiative

Urban Health Initiative (UHI), Uttar Pradesh is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) supported five year project that will be implemented in 10 selected cities in Uttar Pradesh. Led by Family Health International (FHI), the Initiative consortium consists of four core partners namely Hindustan Latex Limited Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT), Futures India, Johns Hopkins University's Center for Communication Programs (CCP) and CARE India – Solutions for Sustainable Development (CARE). The Initiative's conceptual framework addresses demand, supply and advocacy strategies, with capacity building as a cross cutting theme and aims to significantly increase the contraceptive prevalence rate in four cities in Uttar Pradesh. CCP is primarily responsible for creating demand for and sustaining the use of contraceptives among the marginalized urban populations. The student will assist CCP in the preparatory activities for development and implementation of demand generation strategies for the project.
