My professional growth through previous mentored fellowship programs have afforded me the ability to understand the importance of mentorship first hand. With support of the Leitman Global Travel Grant I will be working with Dr. Checkley to mentor 5 graduate students in our study site in Puno, Peru. As I will not be onsite for the entirety of the time each of the mentees are there, this travel fund will allow me to come and go while different mentees are on site, enhancing my experience as a young mentor and bringing more hands on mentorship to the site mentees. With Dr. Checkley’s guidance, I will be leading weekly research meetings, setting milestones for all mentees, and conducting continue progress assessment for each of the mentees and their projects. I will help the mentees be productive with their work in hopes that their invested time will result in continued inspiration to work in global health as well as presentations and manuscripts of their work.
