Burkina Faso-Improving Malaria Care
Jhpiego is implementing the five-year Improving Malaria Care (IMC) project to improve the prevention and treatement of malaria in Burkina Faso. Key interventions include capacity development of health care workers- through training and supportive supervision- to implement up-to-date malaria protocols, implementation of a quality improvement system of standards-based management, supporting integration of malaria indicators into the national helath management information system, and national level support to improve coordination. The project is in its fifth year (Oct 2017-Sept 2018). IMC works closely with USAID's Maternal and Child Survival Project (MCSP) to implement a community-based IPTp project, using CHWs to distribute IPTp to pregnant women in a few pilot districts to prevent malaria in pregnancy. The intervention began in May 2017 and will finish in August 2018.
